Little Library: Favorite Christmas Books

What are some of your favorite family traditions for celebrating Christmas? Do you celebrate Advent? What about the Winter Solstice?

We are still in the midst of creating new traditions for our little family, and this year we’re beginning the tradition of the Jesse tree with our daughters.

We’ve chosen Ann Voskamp’s Unwrapping the Greatest Gift: A Family Celebration of Christmas as our Advent read-along. Last weekend we collected some branches from our yard and put them into a vase in our entryway so the girls can hang their Jesse tree ornaments every day.

In addition to our daily Advent readings, we’ll be reading a selection of children’s holiday books that focus on love, kindness and hope, and the power of family and community. Most of these are lovely, old-fashioned tales that focus on the true meaning of Christmas.
